Green Glue
How a simple adhesive makes a fundamental 12db difference in what you don’t hear.
Vibrations compromise acoustic isolation. Green Glue is a damping material, its purpose is to dissipate sound energy over time and distance. Put simply, Green Glue destroys energy over distance which makes for better soundproofing.
So just how much decay over distance does Green Glue supply?
In a test using 2 layers of 5/8″ drywall damped with Green Glue, vibrations from 20-20kHz stimulation dissipated nearly to the noise floor in just 42″. Raw drywall doesn’t fare nearly as well: by 72″, the vibrations are nearly identical to those at the source. By 8 feet in undamped drywall, the level hardy changes at all—the spectrum merely shifts.
The bottom line is, we’re passionate about soundproofing. It makes a better rehearsal space for you, for the guy next door, and for us out at the front desk. So turn it up. With all the Green Glue we used on this place, it probably won't bother us. Even on 11.
